CHAMBERSBURG – The Chambersburg Ballet is set to enchant audiences with its upcoming performances of “The Firebird” and Winter Showcase at the Capitol Theatre Wood Center. The shows will take place on Friday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1, both at 7 p.m.
This production marks a significant event for the ballet company, featuring Igor Stravinsky’s iconic “The Firebird” alongside world premiere choreography by Artistic Director Brian Grant and Artistic Staff Member Alcinda Burchill. “The Firebird,” based on Russian folklore, tells the tale of a magical bird that is both a blessing and a curse to its captor. Stravinsky’s score is renowned for its innovative orchestration and vivid musical storytelling.
The Wood Center Stage Theatre, Chambersburg’s only black-box performance space, provides an intimate setting for this production. Located within the historic Capitol Theatre Center, the venue offers a unique atmosphere for experiencing dance.
Brian Grant brings a wealth of experience to the production. With a background in professional dance, ballet mastery, choreography and instruction, Grant’s choreographic vision is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the showcase.
Alcinda Burchill, a long-time member of the Chambersburg Ballet and current faculty member, contributes her choreographic talents to the world premiere pieces. Burchill’s extensive history with the company and her experience in various dance styles promise to add depth and variety to the performance.
The Chambersburg Ballet has been a cornerstone of the community’s cultural scene for over 25 years. This production continues its tradition of connecting the community through inspiring performances and education.
