Chambersburg Ballet celebrates 25th year with Cinderella weekend and free performance

CHAMBERSBURG – The Chambersburg Ballet has a weekend of Cinderella-inspired performances and parties planned for all ages to celebrate its 25th Anniversary June 6-7. The ballet has been connecting friends and neighbors through inspiring performance, community engagement, education and training for 25 years.

The celebration weekend is designed for all audiences from the classical ballet enthusiast to those new to the artform. The classic fairy tale Cinderella is the perfect story to bring the community together to experience the joy of dance.

The celebrations kick off on Friday, June 6 at 7 p.m. with a performance of Artistic Director Brian Grant’s new production of Cinderella followed by a question and answer session with some of the performers including professional guest artists, Trisha Carter (Cinderella) and Mark-David Bloodgood (the Prince). Festivities continue on Saturday, June 7, at 1 p.m. with a free community performance of Cinderella (reservations are required).

Following the Saturday matinee the magic continues with a Prince & Princess Party for children aged 0-15 from 4pm-5:30pm in The Wood Center. Participants will meet Cinderella and the Prince, have a mini-dance lesson, create a craft and have a snack. Dress up attire is encouraged. Tickets are $15 per child (no fee for accompanying adult).

Later that evening is the “final act” – a Cinderella Ball from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. in The Wood Center. It will be a night of food, drinks and dancing. The ballet is hosting Barbara Randall as a resident artist during the event, who will provide her specialized “imperfect portraits.” Photography is provided by the Phabulous Phillip Michael Whitley, who will capture guests in their most exquisite and fun attire.

Dress is formal or black tie optional. Seasonal flair with dress inspired by the four seasons spring, summer, fall and winter is encouraged. Food will be provided by boards by Mia featuring stunning charcuterie that are as beautiful as they are delicious and Affinity Cafe which will provide a sweet selection of freshly baked cookies and cupcakes. Bar service from Capitol Theatre will also be available.

Guests will be invited to collaborate on a commemorative art piece, enjoy a pop-up exhibition and timeline of the school’s history and will see a few surprise dance pieces during the party. Tickets for CInderella Ball are $50 each for age 21 and up and $25 each for age 16-20. The deadline for an RSVP for the Cinderella Ball is May 30.

Tickets can be reserved or purchased for all events and performances at www.chambersburgballet.org
