HAGERSTOWN – High school student artists from Washington County public and private school displayed 90 pieces in this year’s University System of Maryland Hagerstown countywide high school art show.
Categories included drawing, painting, photography, digital media and 3D sculptures/ceramics, and college officials said the talent on display was truly impressive. Local judges evaluated the artwork with first through third places offered in each category, along with the prestigious overall Best in Show award. Additionally this year a fun, “USMH Staff Pick Award” was presented to one student in each category.
Winners were:
Overall Best in Show: Grant Bloyer, “More than Meets the Eye”-ninth grade, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.
Drawing: first place, Mariia Semenova, “Sarah & John B”-12th grade, North Hagerstown H.S.; second place, Zikora Nwankwo, “Tree of Knowledge”-12th grade, St. James School; third place, Minhal Imtiaz,“Self Portrait”-10th Grade, BISFA.
Painting: first place, Neil Rezvani, “Hand Anatomy”-11th grade, BISFA; second place, Yuming Yang, “Eyes on the Prize”-12th grade, Saint James; third place, Joyce Liu, “Me & My Shadow”-11th grade, BISFA.
Photography: first place, Keira Sedillo, “Rylie Sedillo”-12th grade, BISFA; second place, Lily Miller, “Glory”-11th Grade, Clear Spring H.S.; third place: Zaine Beaver, “Examination of Conscience”-11th Grade, BISFA.
