WAYNESBORO – Waynesboro Rotarians were treated to an engaging and thought-provoking presentation from Jim Carbaugh of the All Points Leadership group during last week’s meeting. Carbaugh, drawing from his background as an educator and sports coach, shared his passion for leadership development with club members.
“We sometimes put people in a leadership role without preparing them for it,” Carbaugh noted, highlighting a common challenge in organizations. He credited his grandfather for shaping his core values, emphasizing the importance of two essential questions: “Why are you here?” and “What will be your legacy?”
Carbaugh introduced his LEARN methodology for teaching leadership:
- L for Listening
- E for Ethics
- A for Attitude
- R for Respect
- N for No (meaning no excuses—get things done)
He stressed that effective leadership requires adaptability. “You sometimes have to treat people how they want to be treated, not how you want to be treated,” Carbaugh said.
All Points Leadership works with schools, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to foster leadership skills and build positive group cultures.
