Capitol Theatre hosts ‘Rocky Horror’ screening

CHAMBERSBURG – Fans of midnight madness are set to converge on the Capitol Theatre this Saturday for an interactive screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” marking the film’s 50th anniversary with a costume parade and prop-fueled festivities.

The event kicks off at 9 p.m. Oct. 25 at the historic theater, 159 S. Main St., in downtown Chambersburg. Attendees are encouraged to don their best outfits inspired by the 1975 cult horror-musical comedy, rated R, and join a pre-show parade starting at the same time.

Prop bags, essential for the film’s signature audience participation, will be available for purchase on-site while supplies last. Organizers stress no outside props are allowed, and a full etiquette guide is posted on the theater’s website, thecapitoltheatre.org.

For those seeking a full evening of spooky entertainment, the screening follows Chambersburg Community Theatre’s live production of “Dracula” at 7 p.m. in the same venue. Separate tickets are required for each show.

Beer, wine and concessions will be on hand. Admission to “Rocky Horror” is $14, with tickets available online at thecapitoltheatre.org, by phone at 717-263-0202 through 4 p.m. Friday or at the door Saturday.

The Capitol Theatre Center, a year-round hub for family-friendly programming amid its restored grandeur, draws crowds to Franklin County. More local attractions and lodging options are listed at explorefranklincountypa.com.

The screening celebrates the enduring appeal of the film, which has inspired generations of interactive viewings since its release. Theater officials expect a lively crowd for the Halloween-adjacent event.
