GREENCASTLE – Margo Cook, 39, of Boonsboro, Maryland, has succumbed to injuries suffered on April 25 when she was struck by a car in Greencastle.
Officers said the accident happened at the intersection of North Allison Street and Tyrone Street. Ms. Cook had recently started a new job at Boonsboro Elementary School. She was walking with her dog, Mae, following a softball game when she was struck, her family said.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement and emergency medical personnel found that Ms. Cook had sustained injuries to her head and leg. First responders immediately rendered aid, and she was transported to Meritus Medical Center for initial treatment. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was subsequently transferred to the University of Maryland-Baltimore Shock Trauma for further care.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Ms. Cook succumbed to her injuries on May 2. She is survived by her husband of 16 years and middle school sweetheart, Jordan Cook, and her children, Elijah, 13, and Kylie, 10. A native of Frederick, Maryland, she received a degree in Early Childhood Education, but worked from home in recent years to be available for her children. This year, she accepted a job in Boonsboro, according to her online obituary.
The driver involved remained on scene, and no additional injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
The Greencastle Police Department is asking anyone who may have video surveillance footage of the incident to please contact the department.
