SMITHSBURG – Claire Bono continued her hot shooting on Wednesday by scoring 24 points to lead Smithburg to a 69-32 win over Brunswick.
Bono hit 10 of 16 shots and 1 of 2 3-pointers to go with four steals and three assists to pace the Leopards (6-0).
Bono matched the 24 points she had on Tuesday in the Leopards’ win over Boonsboro.
Skyla Mastronardi backed Bono with 12 points with three assists and four steals, while Kara Hoover added 11 points.
Linganore 66, South Hagerstown 29
Aniyah Freeman scored 15 points to pace the Rebels against the Lancers. She added two blocked shots and two steals.
Khloe Terrlonge added six for South, while Eliyana Barnes chipped in with five points.
Llana Maxwell led Linganore with 27 points.

Mylee Hartman scored 21 points and Mikayla Bailey added seven with 10 rebounds to help Boonsboro bounce back from a tough loss for a victory over Walkersville.
The Warriors had a rough night Monday in a 72-15 loss to Smithsburg.

Two Rams earn All-American notice
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University’s junior punter Daishaun was named to the 2025 District 2 Conference Commissioners Association All-American Team released Wednesday by the association.
Defensive back Klayton Batten also gained All-American status with his selection the the Associated Press Division II All-American team.
Alexander, a second-team choice, punted 44 times for a 44.57 average. He had 16 punts placed inside the 20-yard line and booted 13 punts of 50 yards or more. His 44.57 average led the PSAC and ranked him second nationally.
Batten, a second-team choice, recorded 42 tackles (30 solos) with 1.5 tackles-for-loss. He added five interceptions for 99 yards, four pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. His 0.45 interceptions per game tie for the lead in the PSAC and rank him eighth nationally. Batten also ranks seventh nationally in forced fumbles with a 0.36 per game average
