Blue Ridge Summit Library seeks board members, announces activities

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT – The Blue Ridge Summit Free Library Board is seeking new members to serve three-year terms. Library officials also have announced upcoming activities.

The board is the organization responsible for maintaining the library building and grounds while fulfilling its mission of “Preserving Yesterday, Informing Today, and Inspiring Tomorrow.” Board members are responsible for providing the leadership, vision and support necessary for the board to fulfill its mission. Board members are citizens of good standing from the local community, registered patrons of the Franklin County Library System and supporters of the mission of the library.

This week’s events include:Teen and Tween Night on Nov. 6 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.! Ages 10 to 17 are welcome to join the weekly Thursday program with games, crafts, snacks and fun. There will be NO Children’s Storytime on Saturday, Nov. 8. Grab and go crafts will be available! 

Next week’s events include:Children’s Storytime: Monday, Nov. 10; drop in from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Children and parents can join in for a weekly story, songs, craft or coloring sheet, and play time!Young Adult Game Night: Nov. 10: Are you a young adult who loves board and card games and would like to make some new friends? Join the newest program, Young Adult Game Nights! Snacks are provided, and you’re welcome to bring your favorite game.This program will meet on select Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:50 p.m.All FCLS Libraries will be closed on Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.

Reboot! Adult Digital Literacy will be on Nov. 12 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. for the last session of the year! Want to learn more about computers and how to navigate them? These lessons are designed to instruct older adults on a wide variety of digital literacy topics! One-on-one tech help will also be provided as time allows. Ten slots are available per session; stop by the library or call 717-794-2240 to reserve a spot. If spots are filled, you’ll be put on the waitlist. This week’s topic is: Helpful Websites and Keyboard Shortcuts.

Teen and Tween Night: Join in on Nov. 13 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Ages 10 to 17 are welcome to join our weekly Thursday program. The group typically plays games, makes crafts, eats snacks and has a great time.
