Last week: South Hagerstown (2-6) lost to Liberty, 18-13; North Hagerstown (5-3) lost to Boonsboro 35-26 

Notes: North Hagerstown has won 10 of the last 12 meetingsSouth Hagerstown in on a three-game losing streak after winning two straight. North Hagerstown has lost two straight. …  South enters the week ranked sixth in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) Class 4A-3A West state football rankings. The Hubs would travel to Frederick if the playoffs started this week. … North enters the week ranked fourth in the Class 3A rankings. The Hubs would host Rockville if the playoffs started this week. … The game will matchup two of the county’s top running backs – South’s Josiah Davis vs. North’s Ty’Qwell Fauntleroy, who are 1-2 in rushing yards gained. … North has scored 192 points (24 points per game) this season while allowing 165 (20.6). South has scored 116 (14.5) and allowed 185 (23.1) … South had a shot a pulling the game out vs. Liberty, but turned the ball over on downs in the red zone, allowing the Lions to run out the clock. … The Rebels scored on a Grant Beall’s 30-yard touchdown catch from Lucas Semler. The defense provided the other score when Tavon Harris returned a fumble forced by John Dahler for a score. … Dahler also recovered a fumble to give South the opportunity with its final drive. … The Hubs fell behind 21-8 at the half against Boonsboro and couldn’t find a way to draw even with the Warriors the rest of the night. … North’s only lead came on its first possession of the game with a 49-yard TD reception by Michael Stewart off a Colt Butts pass. Fauntleroy ran in the conversion, giving the Hubs an 8-7 advantage at the 8:51 mark of the first quarter. … The Hubs were forced to attempt two-point conversions after each touchdown, but only converted once for points … North, primarily a running team, took to the air early against Boonsboro. Butts threw 13 passes, connecting on 10 for 220 yards and two TDs vs. Boonsboro. He had only thrown 65 passes for 419 yards through the first seven games. Butts had only thrown more than 13 pass one time this season. … Fauntleroy led North with 107 yards rushing and a touchdown on 21 carries. He was held just below his average for 113 yards per game. … Bryant Noubissie led North with 18 tackles, including five for losses and a quarterback sack. He has 69 tackles and five sacks in five games this season. … Damean Thomas, who leads North with 91 tackles, with two fumble recoveries and an interception, had 12 tackles vs. Boonsboro. … Blake Custer finished with 12 tackles, giving him 89 for the season.

Notes: Boonsboro has won the last 12 meetings vs. Smithsburg, including the last three by shutout. … Smithsburg enters the week ranked fifth in the MPSSAA Class 1A West state football rankings. The Leopards would travel to face Mountain Ridge if the playoffs started this week. … Boonsboro enters the week ranked second in the Class 1A North rankings. The Warriors would host Catoctin if the playoffs started this week. … Smithsburg led Fort Hill 6-0 before allowing 56 unanswered points … The Leopards set up the score by forcing a fumble on the opening kickoff. Smithsburg scored on Luke Scott’s 29-yard pass to Dakota Sowers in the first 57 seconds of the game … Fort Hill bounced back to take a 21-6 after one quarter and a 35-6 halftime lead. … Fort Hill’s first score in the third quarter started a running clock … Boonsboro scored on the second play of the game and built a 21-8 halftime lead to hold off North Hagerstown to end a two-game losing streak. … Blake Main threw two TD passes to Jayden Paugh and Parker DeBaugh ran for two scores to help the Warriors grind out the win. Jadon King opened the game with a 68-yard run for the first score. … The Warriors flipped the script on North with a surprise onside kick they recovered after their second score. Boonsboro failed to score, but was able to gain field position on the Hubs. It led to the third TD of the half, aided by North’s roughing the punter penalty. … King led the Warriors with 106 yards rushing and a touchdown, while DeBaugh rolled up 100 yards and the two scores. They accounted for all but eight yards of Boonsboro’s ground game. … King leads Boonsboro with 747 yards rushing, and 10 TDs while DeBaugh has 518 yards and seven scores. The combine for 69% of the Warriors’ rushing attack. … Main has completed 62 of 104 passes for 981 yards and 14 touchdowns in eight games.  … Paugh caught two passes for 47 yards and the two scores against North. He has become the Warriors’ main receiving target late in the season, with 10 catches for 123 yards and all four touchdowns in the last two games. He’s caught 14 passes for 202 yards and four touchdowns for the season … Logan Atkinson led Boonsboro’s defense against North with 13 ½ tackles, including 2 ½ for losses and a forced fumble. He leads the Warriors with 77 ½ tackles for the season. … Landen Sallerson also had 13 ½ tackles and Brody Honeycutt added 12 ½ for Boonsboro. … Boonsboro has forced 15 turnovers this season. … Boonsboro has scored 225 points (28.1 per game) while allowing 183 (22.9), but 116 points have come in the three losses. Smithsburg has scored 145 (18.1) and allowed 176 (22) this season.

Watkins Mills at Williamsport, 6

Last week: Watkins Mill (1-2) lost to Clarksburg, 48-0; Williamsport (5-3) lost to Mountain Ridge, 36-33 

Notes: Williamsport has lost three of its last four games after starting the season 4-0. … The Wildcats enter the week ranked fifth in the Class 2A/1A West state football rankings. The Wildcats would travel to face Century if the playoffs started this week. … Williamsport came up on the wrong end of a tug-of-war with Mountain Ridge. The Miners scored with 2:54 remaining to secure the win with the last of six second-half lead changes. There were nine lead changes in the game. … Williamsport quarterback Gabriel Parker passed for 248 yards and two touchdowns, but also had two interceptions. He has 1,741 yards passing for the season with 15 TDs and seven interceptions. He has also been sacked eight times. … Logan Durham led the Wildcats’ running attack with 16 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns, while Tae’myji Boyce-Brown added 85 yards and a TD in nine tries. Boyce-Brown is Williamsport’s leading rusher with 467 yards, while Durham adds 269 for the season. … David Grayton continues to be Williamsport’s top receiving asset with nine catches for 109 yards and a TD against Mountain Ridge and added an interception on defense. … He has 40 catches on the season for 780 yards and seven TDs. … Jordan Wigfall also caught a TD pass vs. Mountain Ridge. … Tyson Cleary led Williamsport with 18 tackles and a fumble recovery. He tops the Wildcats with 107 total tackles for the season. Xavier Bowie is second with 85 tackles and has six quarterback sacks, two fumble recoveries and an interception on the season … Williamsport won the yardage battle in the loss, outgaining the Miners 423-271. … Watkins Mill is on a seven-game losing streak after defeating Northwood in the season opener … The Wolverines have scored in double figures in just three of eight games and have been shut out twice. …They have been outscored 254-99 this season, with 22 points coming in the win over Northwood and 38 in a 44-38 loss to Einstein for 60 of those 99 points.

Saint James at Flint Hill, 1

Notes: Saint James has won seven straight games after opening the season 0-2. One of the wins were awarded by forfeit … The Saints can wrap up the Mid-Atlantic Conference title with a win this week. … Saint James rushed for 318 yards and seven TDs against Potomac School. … Joshua Davis led the way with 160 yards and two TDs, while quarterback Jayden Yates, who also passed for 80 yards, added 59 yards and two touchdowns. Marcello added two TDs and Liam Hall had one. …  Hall, who has missed six games with injuries, retuned to lead Saint James’ defense with 10 tackles, while Aiden Owens added nine hits. … Yates has accounted for 1,928 yards of offense for the Saints this season. The senior has connected on 83 of 153 passes for 1,232 yards and 12 TDs, while adding a team-high 669 yards rushing with 13 touchdowns. … Davis has rushed for 426 yards and Anderson adds 371 yards and eight TDs rushing. … The Saints feature a balanced defense with nine players with at least 40 tackles this season. Aiden Ownes, a sophomore, leads with 52 hits. William Taffe has 44, including eight for losses. … Despite only playing three games, Hall has 42 tackles … The Saints have 18 sacks and have forced 11 turnovers. … Saint James has blocked a punt and two field goals this season … Saint James has outscored its opponents 280-144 this season, with 244 of the points scored coming in the seven-game win streak. The Saints have scored at least 35 points in five of the seven victories. … Flint Hill has been outscored 278-108 this season. The Huskies have lost 11 straight games and are 1-16 over the last two seasons.
