CASCADE, MD – On a crisp autumn Saturday, the Cascade community gathered at Fort Ritchie Community Center for a spooktacular Trunk or Treat event. From 3 to 5 p.m., children of all ages trick-or-treated from trunk to trunk, collecting candy and other goodies from creatively decorated vehicles.
GREENCASTLE- The Greencastle Legion Grounds were transformed into a fall festival on October 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 25 food trucks, 200 retail vendors, and carnival rides from Snyder’s Attractions were featured at the event. In addition to the food and rides, there were also helicopter rides from Mission Destiny Helicopter LLC, pony rides from Oak View Friesians, and face painting from Aunt Sandy’s Face Painting.
The Fort Ritchie Fall Craft Show was held on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The indoor craft bazaar featured more than 60 vendors with seasonal decor, jewelry, candles, toys, and more. The show was a great success, and many people came out to browse the vendors and find unique gifts for their loved ones.
The Institute’s third annual Pumpkins and Pippins fall festival was held on Saturday, October 21 from noon to 4 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area, Waynesboro. The festival was a fundraiser for The Institute, and included a full slate of activities and fun for all ages. There was a “kid zone” with yard games, a StoryWalk® hike and activity, and a photo stand. Pony rides for kids from Serendipity Horse Meadows Farm provided a fun and memorable experience. TRUNK or TREAT at the Waynesboro Area YMCA on Saturday, Oct. 21, 3 to 5 p.m. was a fun and safe way to trick or treat for Halloween. Volunteers decorated the trunk of their vehicle, and distributed candy to participants. The event was free and open to all. 500 people were in attendance.
WAYNESBORO- Market Day, Waynesboro’s largest vendor market of the year, returned to Main Street in downtown Waynesboro on Saturday, October 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, brought to the community by Mainstreet Waynesboro, Inc., featured dozens of local small business vendors selling a variety of goods, including food and beverages, art and crafts, and more. There were also sidewalk sales and live music and entertainment throughout the day. WAYNESBORO- First Friday in Waynesboro was held on Friday, Oct. 6 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Main Street Park. There were tricks and treats for all ages, including a costume contest, live music by Willeby Hayes, and food trucks on site. Shop owners handed out candy to kids dressed up, and there was a planting party hosted by The Little Greenhouse.
WAYNESBORO- Waynesboro Area Senior High School celebrated homecoming on Friday, Sept. 29, with a parade, football game, and dance. Allyson Garling was crowned the 2023 Homecoming queen at halftime of the varsity football game against Susquehanna Township. She was escorted by Andrew Soffe. The homecoming parade began at Summitview Elementary School and ended at Buchanan Auto Stadium, where the football game was held. Saturday, Sept. 30 students gathered at the high school for the homecoming dance.
WAYNESBORO — Men and boys in Waynesboro took a stand against sexual violence on Friday by walking a mile in red heels. The second annual Waynesboro Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event was held downtown to raise awareness of the issue and funds for WIN Victim Services. Participants registered and raised money from sponsors before walking the one-mile route in red heels.
