WAYNESBORO- Organizers of the annual Waynesboro Summer Jubilee are seeking donations to fund the 28th edition of the popular community festival and fireworks display. The Summer Jubilee, held each July 4th in Waynesboro, features a full day of free entertainment, exhibits, children’s activities, live music, food vendors and a fireworks finale. WAYNESBORO- The Wayne Band, celebrating its 125th anniversary, will present “A Concert in the Park” on Monday, June 24 at 7 p.m. The concert will take place at Memorial Park, located at the intersection of 5th Street and S. Walnut Street in Waynesboro. The program will feature marches, showtunes, and other standard band literature. WAYNESBORO- The Waynesboro Area School District (WASD) received a $72,000 dual enrollment grant to help cover college tuition, fees and books for students at Waynesboro Area Senior High School (WASHS). The district was notified of the grant award in May 2023 and the funding arrived in February 2024. WASHS students and families were then informed they could apply for reimbursement by submitting a form along with required receipts. Beginning June 1st, 2024, the district distributed reimbursement checks to those who had applied. HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Washington County Board of Commissioners and Washington County Wireless Communications have announced the successful upgrade of its public safety radio system to Project 25 (P25) Phase 2 technology, a state-of-the-art digital radio system that enhances communication and coordination for first responders. The upgrade project consists of two stages. The first $1.85 million stage of the radio system core was completed on November 8, 2023.
