According to early estimates from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, national traffic fatalities in the first nine months of 2021 rose approximately 12 percent over 2020. WAYNESBORO—The 25th annual Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce Business Expo will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Waynesboro Area Senior High School. The free event will offer 50 businesses, nonprofits and civic organizations, plus a free Kidz Zone with bounce house, balloon artist, bowling and McGruff, the Crime Dog. ROUZERVILLE—The Buchanan Trail Quilters met Thursday, Feb. 10, for their monthly gathering. Social time was followed by a brief business meeting. The completed raffle quilt was presented to the membership by committee chairwoman Fran Eisenhower. CHAMBERSBURG—In a continued effort to better address the housing needs of area residents, Franklin County human services staff and volunteers are conducting a Point-in-Time Count Feb. 24 to gauge homelessness across the county. During a Point-in-Time Count, volunteers canvas areas of the county to count all persons experiencing homelessness on the streets, in shelters, in wooded areas and in temporary housing to better understand the need for housing and supportive services. Information from the count helps officials assist individuals and families secure and maintain stable housing. CHAMBERSBURG – The Franklin County Commissioners have announced that the 2022 real estate tax invoices will be mailed March 1 and will have a new look this year. While the format of the invoices has changed, all other aspects of the process – including discounts and due dates – remain the same for 2022. These invoices, which include both county and municipal real estate taxes, will feature an updated format for 2022 that saves space. HARRISBURG–The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has reported that preliminary figures show $68,044,810 was wagered in the Commonwealth on this past weekend’s Super Bowl through retail and online sportsbooks. That was a 27% increase over wagers placed on the game last year. After payouts, revenue is expected to be $4,575,339.
