As college and high school students settle into their new routine of waking up early and staying up late to do homework, one student is already under way with medical school, with the help of generous donors and WellSpan Health. Meet Andrew Rheam, one of the WellSpan Future Physician Scholarship recipients. After graduating from Chambersburg High School, Andrew started medical school in July at Liberty University in Virginia. CHAMBERSBURG — As local students go back to school, United Way of Franklin County wrapped up deliveries to school districts from its annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive. United Way has been coordinating collection sites and bus visits since early July, working in partnership with more than 40 local organizations to collect supplies. WAYNESBORO — The Washington Township Police Department is requesting assistance from the public to identify two individuals connected to a recent retail theft incident. The theft occurred on at about 9:10 p.m. on Aug. 20, at the Walmart store at 12751 Washington Township Blvd. Authorities have identified a male and a female as persons of interest in the case, which is documented under case number WTPD2024-06262. HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Temporary safety measures for pedestrians and other roadway users began Sunday along U.S. Highway 40 from N. Cannon Avenue to E. Washington Avenue. The measures include narrower lanes, speed cushions to slow traffic, hardened centerlines to slow left turning traffic and high visibility crosswalk markings. The temporary “demonstration project” is sponsored by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration partnering with the City of Hagerstown.
