CHAMBERSBURG—Vouchers for the 2024 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program are now available through the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging. The program provides eligible seniors with $50 worth of vouchers to purchase fresh, locally grown produce from approved farmers markets and stands. To qualify, Franklin County residents must be 60 years or older and meet income guidelines of $27,861 annually for a single-person household or $37,814 for a two-person household. Eligible seniors will receive five $10 vouchers to buy fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs. Processed foods, tropical fruits and non-food items are not eligible for purchase with the vouchers. CHAMBERSBURG — With donations topping $8.9 million, Wilson College in 2024 raised its fourth highest amount annually in school history, Wilson officials said. This was thanks to the generosity of the entire Wilson community, including alumnae, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the College. Of the total, $1.1 million was dedicated to the annual Wilson Fund, officials noted. CHAMBERSBURG — The Franklin County Area Agency on Aging is responding to rising temperatures by extending the hours of its senior activity centers in Chambersburg, Greencastle and Tuscarora. On Wednesday, Aug. 28, these centers will operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. as designated cooling stations for local residents aged 60 and older. HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Sierra Nevada Corporation has won government/military contracts that will ensure a stable supply of work and associated high-wage jobs at Hagerstown Regional Airport for years to come, airport officials said.  Included in this is a $991.3 million contract with the United States Army to deliver a fleet of up to 14 additional ISR-capable jets made from the Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft platform.
