CHAMBERSBURG – The Franklin County Commissioners have announced the 2022 recipients of the county’s nursing scholarship program. Six area high school graduates will each receive a one-time $2,500 scholarship to pursue a career in nursing. Since 2017, the scholarship program has provided financial assistance to 36 Franklin County high school seniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Scholarships are funded by proceeds from the 2013 sale of the county nursing home. WAYNESBORO-Twenty-five years ago, a group of community members united to create a celebration of Waynesboro Hospital’s 75th anniversary that would go on to become an annual community celebration. Back then, Waynesboro didn’t have an event to celebrate the Independence Day holiday. “It was odd,” recalled Joe Stewart. “Many towns all around us had big festivities, butnot us.” Stewart, a Waynesboro physician and president of the Rotary Club of Waynesboro, was asked by then Hospital Chairman, Bill George, to chair a celebration for the hospital’s 75th anniversary. HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has today that CSX Railroad plans to perform work on rail crossings on Hollowell Church Road in Antrim Township, and Fetterhoff Chapel Road in Quincy Township, Franklin County. HARRISBURG– Offering white-tailed deer hunters more hunting opportunities across Pennsylvania, state forestlands and state parks are participating in the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Deer Management Assistance Program. The following items were discussed: The May Washington Township Code Enforcement Report consisted of a list of violations typical of this time of year, such as tall grass and weeds, and construction without permits.
