CHAMBERSBURG— Bill Johnston loved all things automotive—especially the 1950s era—and enjoyed sharing his passion with others. In his early life, the Fayetteville man was the owner and operator of the Sunoco Gas station on Radio Hill in Chambersburg and later worked as a mechanic at Eastland Motors. He was also employed at Mack truck for a time before a stint at Letterkenny Army Depot and later Ft. Detrick, prior to his 2013 retirement. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has begun a project to improve intersection safety on US 40 at the entrance to Greenbrier State Park in the Boonsboro area of Washington County. Weather permitting, the project will continue through the end of September. Crews will work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, to perform excavation and install a new raised median, signage and pavement markings. Barrels will be used to shift traffic in the work area to protect both workers and motorists. The work is part of a $497,000 areawide project to improve intersection…
