HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Washington County Highway Department has announced the extension of the Bottom Road closure. The road, which runs between the tannery and the railroad crossing, will remain closed through Monday, Sept. 9, 2024. Daily closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes during this period. The department expressed its apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the public’s understanding as they carry out necessary maintenance work .

CHAMBERSBURG – Recognizing that one in six Franklin County children lack adequate food, the County Commissioners have proclaimed September to be Hunger Action Month in Franklin County. Hunger Action Month is a national campaign that highlights hunger issues facing communities across the country. According to Feeding America, 1.5 million Americans are impacted by food insecurity, meaning they lack consistent access to adequate food. MERCERSBURG — Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Alliance (CVBCA) is holding their 28th annual Walk/Run 5K fundraiser on Saturday, September 14. The Walk/Run will be held on Rhodes Drive in Chambersburg, Pa. Walkers and runners of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. WellSpan Health serves as the event sponsor. CHAMBERSBURG – Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (R-Pa.-13) recently visited Mercy House of Chambersburg, taking a comprehensive tour of the building and engaging with key stakeholders.
