MONT ALTO – A train show offering vendor tables, test tracks Mont Alto fire truck rides, refreshments and door prizes is planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Mont Alto Fire Hall. The hall is located at 517 S. Main St., Mont Alto, and admission will be $5 for adults, with those younger than 18 entering without charge when accompanied by an adult. CHAMBERSBURG – The Chambersburg Area School District began its lease of 3,440 square feet of office space at 20 S. Main St., downtown, on Oct. 1, according to Mike Ross, president of the Franklin County Area Development Corporation. The school district is establishing a downtown Community Engagement Center to support in-town at risk students and their families. The FCADC and the Chambersburg Area Development Corporation are partners in South Main Ventures, which owns the former F&M Trust corporate office adjacent to Memorial Square.
HAGERSTOWN – The Washington County Chamber of Commerce will hold two breakfast forums to meet candidates for the Hagerstown City Council and for the Sixth Congressional District ahead of the Nov. 4 elections. CHAMBERSBURG – The unemployment rate in the Chambersburg-Waynesboro area stood at 2.9 percent on Oct. 1, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry reported. And Mike Ross, president of the Franklin County Area Development Corporation noted, that remains lower than both the state and national averages. The seasonally adjusted labor force in the county is estimated at 77,400, Ross said in his monthly bulletin.
