GREENCASTLE- The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Greencastle is set for this Friday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. on the Square, marking the start of the holiday season. This year’s tree, generously donated by the Lochbaum family from Grant Shook Road in Antrim Township, will be adorned with festive decorations in the days leading up to the event. Residents are invited to join in the festivities, which will feature carols, bell ringing and welcoming remarks from local officials.

HAGERSTOWN- A Faculty Art Show at Hagerstown Community College will run through Thursday, Nov. 21 in the Kepler Center on HCC’s main campus. The show will run through November 21. The exhibit will feature the works of faculty members Victor Adegboyega-Edun, Jordan Cannon, Christina Hans, Matt Hast, Audra Martenot, Tom Renner, Stephen Sheredy, Sara Swacina and Margaret Yaukey. Works on display will include painting, digital and mixed media, ceramics, photography, metal and jewelry. The show is free and open to the public. WAYNESBORO – The Washington Township Board of Supervisors will have a busy Monday, Nov. 18, with a meeting at 1:30 p.m. to consider rezoning parts of the Waynesboro Country Club for a housing development. The property in question is at 11000 Country Club Rd. There are other routine agenda items listed, along with a public comment period. The supervisors meet at the Washington Township Municipal Building, 11798 Buchanan Trail E. GREENCASTLE – The Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce is inviting residents to participate in the 2024 Heritage Christmas Light It Up contest, which encourages homeowners to showcase their festive spirit through elaborate holiday displays. Contestants can register their homes for free until Nov. 30, with public voting taking place from Dec. 1 to Dec. 20, costing $1 per vote. Proceeds from the voting will benefit the Greencastle-Antrim Food Pantry. HAGERSTOWN – Hagerstown Community College’s Career Development, Internship and Job Services Office is conducting its annual clothing drive to collect clean, lightly worn and ready-to-wear professional clothing and accessories. The donated items are made available, free of charge, to students who are preparing for internships and employment opportunities. Since 2018, the Career Closet has served an average of 150 students annually. Students with the WCPS Marshall Street School Job Development Program assist in the coordination of this annual event. The day was chosen because it’s the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who, along with Charles Best, discovered insulin in 1922. WAYNESBORO – Area residents are invited to a “star party”—a telescope viewing of the night sky—on Monday, Dec. 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area near Waynesboro. WAYNESBORO — Police arrested a 44-year-old Waynesboro man on felony charges involving terroristic threats, endangering another person and simple assault in a search that involved cordoning off areas around the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue Sunday afternoon, according to police and media reports. Timothy Charles Bickham Jr. had been sought by police since Nov. 5, stemming from an altercation that occurred on Oct. 1 in the parking lot of 604 E.
