GREENCASTLE. – The Allison-Antrim Museum will feature a presentation on the architecture of Cumberland Valley Railroad stations at its monthly speaker meeting Thursday, May 8. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the museum’s German Bank Barn, 365 S. Ridge Ave. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
James Fouchard, a noted researcher and presenter, will lead a narrated slide program exploring the evolution and variety of structures built to serve the Cumberland Valley Railroad throughout its history. Fouchard’s presentation will highlight the architectural styles that marked the railroad’s development, from its incorporation in 1831 through its merger with the Franklin Railroad Company in 1865 and beyond.
The Cumberland Valley Railroad Company, one of the oldest in the United States, played a significant role in regional transportation and architectural trends. The railroad’s stations and supporting buildings reflected multiple eras of American architecture, offering insight into both functional design and historical context.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated and will support the museum’s annual speaker series. For more information, readers may call 717-597-9325, visit greencastlemuseum.org, or follow the museum on Facebook at Greencastlemuseum.
