Morral speeds to victory at Path Valley Speedway

Photo courtesy of Path Valley Speedway Hagerstown’s Kameron Morral poses from Victory Lane with his family after the winning the 600 Sprints feature at Path Valley Speedway on Saturday.

Everything about the No. 880 car — from the acceleration to the max speed to the driver, Kameron Morral — was clicking on all cylinders at Path Valley Speedway on Saturday night.

Hagerstown’s Morral powered to victory in the 600 Sprints over Dylan Anderson and Randy Kunkle, Jr. He did so in dominant fashion, quickly driving from the second-starting position to the leader’s spot on the green flag before amassing a half-track advantage over the field.

Morral was poised to run away from the field, but a caution with five laps remaining put the outcome of the race in doubt. As it turned out Morral — who had the fastest lap time at 74.54 mph in 12.073 seconds — nailed the restart and cruised to his second win of the season at Path Valley.

The 270 Sprints points championship at Path Valley was decided when Bradyn Kuhn won Saturday’s feature over fellow Greencastle driver Aidan Crouse and Fort Loudon’s Zach Glass. With 597 points in the books, Kuhn has mathematically sealed his title over Crouse, who has 471 points. Also at Path Valley, Greencastle’s Alyssa Cullum took second in the Modifieds, St. Thomas’ Doug Sales placed sixth in the Thunder Cars, and five area drivers landed in the Top 10 of the Limited Late Models feature: Greencastle’s DJ Myers (3rd), St. Thomas’ Mike Walls (4th) and Dawson Walls (5th), and Chambersburg’s Steve Lowery (6th) and Randy Burkholder (8th).

Hagerstown Speedway hosted the two-day Hub City Nationals last weekend and several local drivers secured Top 10 finishes. Wesley Bonebrake, of Hagerstown, took third in the Late Model Sportsman race while Greencastle’s Cody Kershner finished just behind in fifth. Hagerstown’s Keith Reed took fourth in the Pure Stocks, while Greencastle’s William Ecton Sr. placed 10th.

The Crown Vic race at Hub City Nationals saw Hagerstown’s Graham Brezler (6th) and Greencastle’s Parker Starr (8th) post top finishes. Other top local finishers from Hagerstown Speedway include Greencastle’s Cuyler Upperman (4th in Crate Late Models), Hagerstown’s Brady Neff (10th in Super Late Models), and Waynesboro’s Eric Moats (10th in 4WD 4 Cylinder).

Sprint Car Hall of Famer Lance Dewease, of Fayetteville, spent his Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway for the Billy Kimmel Memorial. Competing in the 410 Sprints, Dewease claimed fourth place.

A handful of drivers ventured out to BAPS Motor Speedway on Saturday, with three posting Top 10 finishes in the East Coast Legends race: Chambersburg’s Kelby Friese (4th) and Ben Morrow (8th), and Fairfield’s Seth Kearchner (9th). Keith Walls, of St. Thomas, took seventh in the Limited Late Models.

Finally, Chambersburg driver Trevor Gach had a brilliant night on the track at McGrewBid Motoplex on Friday. Gach conquered the 600cc Winged Micros race and took second in the 600cc Non-Winged feature.

Below is a track-by-track, feature-by-feature look at races from last weekend that included drivers from the Local.News1 coverage area:
