Football season kicked off in Pennsylvania last weekend and three teams from the Local.News1 coverage area — Waynesboro, Greencastle-Antrim, and Chambersburg — all had players with standout performances to earn spots on the first edition of our list of high school stat leaders for the fall season.
Ceagan Truett, the starting QB for Chambersburg, leads the area in both passing yards (187) and total TDs (3), while his receiver Davonte Scott leads locals with 89 receiving yards. Greencastle’s Blake Reuter is the top rusher in the area after piling up 111 yards, while Waynesboro’s ball-hawking Steven Howard has two interceptions to his name to set the pace for locals.
The Trojans, Blue Devils, and Tribe will get one more weekend to assert themselves on our leaderboards before the three Maryland schools in our coverage area — North Hagerstown, South Hagerstown, and Smithsburg — open their season on Sept. 5.
The local high school golf scene is currently being ruled by Greencastle’s Camden Eby, who is carrying an 80.0 average this fall.
