WAYNESBORO — The Borough of Waynesboro brought the community together for an engaging National Night Out event at Memorial Park on Tuesday, fostering connections between residents and local organizations. The annual event, designed to promote community safety and unity, featured a variety of activities, demonstrations, and free food for attendees of all ages.
The Waynesboro Police Department captivated the crowd with a K-9 demonstration, showcasing the skills of their trained dogs. Local fire departments, including the Borough of Waynesboro Fire Department and Letterkenny Fire Department, displayed equipment and engaged with visitors. Waynesboro Ambulance was also on hand, providing information about their services.
Children enjoyed a range of interactive activities. The YMCA organized a game where kids rolled dice to complete exercises for prizes. Buttonwood offered a wheel-spinning activity, rewarding participants with books. First Start Partnerships for Children & Families connected with families, sharing resources and information.
Several organizations distributed informational materials. Leah’s Legacy handed out flyers to raise awareness, while Pyramid Healthcare, Inc. provided clips for papers and additional flyers. Franklin/Fulton County MH/IDD/EI offered sunglasses, cups, and informational packets. Abate Pa promoted their “Look Twice, Save a Life” campaign with flyers and activity books for kids.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of foods, including hot dogs, pizza, chicken BBQ sandwiches, ice cream, and snacks, creating a festive atmosphere. Life Line, a medical helicopter service, was scheduled to land in the park but was called away for an emergency.
The event highlighted Waynesboro’s commitment to community engagement, bringing together residents, first responders, and local organizations for an evening of fun and connection.
