After a busy weekend of games, the 2025 Boro Classic came down to a showdown between two Waynesboro teams in the championship game Sunday evening at Clayton Avenue South Field.
Waynesboro 10UA jumped out to a 10-1 lead after one inning and three innings later scored the game-ending run to notch a 20-5 victory over Waynesboro 10UB.
Both Waynesboro teams rolled into the title game. The A-team, coached by Dan DeMott, defeated Mercersburg 21-8. The B-team, coached by Ryan Ditch, beat Pen Mar 12-2.
On Saturday, DeMott’s bunch beat Mercersburg 17-3 and Hub City 10-1 to finish 2-0 in pool play. The 10UB squad beat Fairfield 20-2 and Pen Mar 17-12, also going 2-0 in pool play.
In the championship tilt, it was all Waynesboro 10UA.
After spotting 10UB a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Ryder Ditch led off with a walk, stole second base, and scored on a two-out single by Easton Bosso, 10UA plated 10 runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.
Brixton Hollimon led off with a single and came around to score on a double off the bat of Jackson Matthews to quickly tie the score 1-1.
Matthews wasn’t on base long, scoring on a base hit by Kolton Lowans. Raef Provard and Doug DeMott both walked to load the bases. Lowans scored on an error with Gage Cramer at the plate. Waynesboro 10UB did record an out on the play, but Eason Heimbuch drove in DeMott with a base hit. Cramer scored on Tucker Murray’s single, and Ryan Grubbs knocked in two runs with a hit. Braxton Knarr took his turn at bat and made it count as he sent Grubbs home. Then, Declan Murray recorded a two-run single to make the score 10-1.
Waynesboro 10UB had a lot of ground to make up, and it managed to score three runs in the top of the second stanza. With two outs in the books, Lucas Stymiest, Ryan Biesecker, and Evan Shaffer all singled. Tucker Carr walked to force in Stymiest, and Ryder Ditch singled home Biesecker and Shaffer.
Waynesboro 10UA also scored three runs in the bottom of the second. And after 10UB tallied a single run in the top of the third, 10UA pushed across six more runs in the bottom of the third inning.
There was also an 8U tournament, won by Upper Allen. Upper Allen defeated Federal 6-2 in the championship game played on the North Field.
