Crouse doubles win total at Path Valley Speedway

Photo courtesy of Path Valley Speedway Greencastle’s Aidan Crouse celebrates from Victory Lane after winning the 270 Sprints feature at Path Valley Speedway.

Now that Aidan Crouse knows how it feels to win a race, the young Greencastle driver wants to duplicate that high again and again.

Weeks after winning his first 270 Sprints race at Path Valley Speedway, Crouse cruised to Victory Lane once again last weekend. A rising junior at Greencastle-Antrim, Crouse surged to the win over Fort Loudon’s Zach Glass and Fayetteville’s Cory Myers.

Crouse got the job done by capitalizing on optimal starting position. He began the feature from the third spot, but seized the lead on the very first lap. From there, Crouse was strong on multiple restarts and showcased his driving skills over the final nine laps, when he worked his way through lapped traffic.

Path Valley hosted two East Coast Legends races, one of which was a makeup of the Butch Shatzer Memorial. In that feature, Chambersburg’s Ben Morrow (6th) and St. Thomas’ Tracy Linn (8th) both landed Top 10 finishes. The second East Coast Legends race saw St. Thomas’ Ryan Walls Sr. win over Jeremy Ott and Logan Carbaugh. Also at Path Valley, Chambersburg’s Kevin Bard (2nd), Fayetteville’s Cameron Defenderfer (5th), and Greencastle’s Parker Starr (10th) all secured Top 10 finishes.

Port Royal Speedway hosted the Blue Collar Classic last weekend, drawing the attention of a couple of area drivers. Competing in the Limited Late Models race, Greencastle’s DJ Myers claimed third place and was chased to the finish line by Gunner Walls of St. Thomas, who finished in seventh.

One of the most popular dirt-track events of the summer — PA Speedweek — kicked off last week, although Mother Nature has had a bigger say in the outcome than any of the drivers. Friday’s program at Williams Grove Speedway was rained out, as was racing at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday and Grandview Speedway on Tuesday. In between the rainouts, however, National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Lance Dewease made his mark on PA Speedweek.

Dewease, the “Fayetteville Flyer,” competed in the 410 Sprints at BAPS Motor Speedway on Sunday, winning the B-Main before driving from 21st to 12th in the feature. Dewease was back on the track Wednesday and placed seventh at Port Royal.

Dewease’s son, Cole, was also active last weekend. He drove to a runner-up finish in the 600 Sprints feature at Blanket Hill Speedway.

The PA Speedweek schedule moves into local territory this weekend. Hagerstown Speedway will host Night 7 on Thursday, before Path Valley puts on the Night 10 program on Sunday.

Below is a track-by-track look at races from last week that included drivers from the Local.News1 coverage area:
