Shalom Christian Academy’s annual Dutchfest is moving to the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club, home of the Franklin County Fairgrounds, to accommodate larger crowds and provide more parking for visitors. Organizers say the 47th festival will continue to offer its signature strawberry pie, live and online auctions, 5K race, games, crafts and a wide variety of food, including crab cakes, barbecue chicken and funnel cakes. Dutchfest, a major fundraiser for the pre-K through 12th-grade school, will take place Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with free admission and parking. The new venue on Warm Spring Road will allow the event to maintain its full lineup of family activities, including a petting zoo, barrel rides and a hot air balloon, rain or shine.
Waynesboro’s Main Street Park will host Spring Fest 2025 on Saturday, bringing more than 150 craft vendors and small businesses, over 10 food trucks, live music, a beer garden and a variety of family activities to downtown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features a kid’s zone with inflatable bounce houses, obstacle courses, pony rides until 2 p.m., axe throwing, face painting and more, aiming to celebrate the community and support local businesses. Organizers expect a large turnout as residents and visitors gather for a day of shopping, entertainment and family fun in the heart of Waynesboro.
The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Franklin County will host an outdoor container gardening workshop at 10 a.m. Saturday at the 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center Shed, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg. Participants will learn how to attract butterflies, birds and other pollinators by selecting the best plants and will receive hands-on guidance from Master Gardeners to create their own container gardens. The $25 workshop aims to support local pollinator populations and is open to the public.
Children and families are invited to explore history at the Washington County Rural Heritage Museum’s Children’s Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, May 3, from noon to 4 p.m. at 7313 Sharpsburg Pike in Boonsboro. Participants will search for 19th-century objects throughout the museum’s indoor exhibits and historic rural village, making for an engaging and educational afternoon. Admission ranges from $3 to $5. The event offers hands-on learning and fun for all ages, with adults welcome to join the hunt alongside children.
Clarissa’s School of Performing Arts in Greencastle will host a Tea Party with Mom on Sunday, May 4, at 1 p.m. The event invites mothers and daughters to enjoy decorating two pots, planting flowers, and participating in snacks, games, and more.
