HAGERSTOWN – A portion of Meritus Medical Center’s Emergency Department will be renovated in the coming months to make it easier for patients to see a provider. The renovations will reconfigure the area for patient evaluation, which currently is a single triage room.
Once construction is complete this fall, there will be four triage rooms where patients will be seen and assessed by a provider.
“The purpose of an Emergency Department at a community hospital is to provide immediate, quality care to people who are experiencing an urgent medical issue,” said Carrie Adams, chief operating officer of Meritus Health. “These planned renovations at Meritus Medical Center are designed to improve safety as patients are arriving and evaluated for appropriate care that is accurate and expedient.”
In preparation for the renovations, the public might have noticed staff implementing new processes to expedite evaluation and treatment.
