CASCADE, Md. – The Fort Ritchie Community Center will host health-focused events throughout April and May, aimed at providing essential services to local residents.
On Saturday, April 19, Fort Ritchie Community Center will be holding an Egg Hunt for kids aged 0 – 12! Each age group will have a separate timeslot, with 0 – 2 starting at 1 p.m., 3 – 5 starting at 1:05 p.m., 6 – 8 starting at 1:10 p.m., and 9 – 12 starting at 1:15 p.m. There will also be photos with the Easter Bunny available, and the Antietam Dairy Ice Cream Truck will be there!
On Saturday, April 26, from 9 – 11 a.m., Fort Ritchie Community Center will be hosting the Zumba for a Cause event! They invite all community members to join them for a fun and energetic Dance-a-thon to support their summer camp! You can register here: Zumba Registration
On all Wednesdays of the month, the center’s staff members will hold their Homeschool Club. It runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and has age groups of 6-10, and 11-15. The cost per session is $5 per child per session! It is now running weekly! Pre-registration is required.
On Tuesday, April 15 and Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., a representative from the Washington County Heath Department will be at the Community Center to offer free blood pressure and pre-diabetes screenings.
Also on Tuesday April 15, Tabitha’s Table, located in Smithsburg, Maryland, will be providing the community with food items from their pantry by 11 a.m. until the food items are gone.
On Wednesday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., you can treat yourself to a mobile chair massage! You can pay by the minute for a 10-, 15-, or 20-minute session with Miranda Tyler, massage therapist. Appointments are by walk-in only, and all clients must sign a liability waiver before receiving service.
On Saturday, May 17, Fort Ritchie will be holding its Fun Run/Walk at the Fort! All ages are welcome to sign up for a 1 mile, 2 mile, or 5k Run/Walk! The event will start at 8:30 a.m. and has a $10 pre-register fee for ages 7+, or a $15 same-day registration fee. 6 and under are free! Furry friends are welcome but must be leashed. Also on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fort Ritchie Community Center will be holding a Health & Wellness Fair. It will be in the FRCC Gymnasium, and more information can be found on THEFRCC.org website.
