WAYNESBORO – Buttonwood Nature Center invites area families on a free, guided hike along the Appalachian Trail on Sunday, March 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. as part of their Naturalist Discovery Series of programs.
The hike is the third in a series of four Appalachian Trail hikes planned for the last Sunday of each month through April. The March hike is geared for families with children age 7 and older.
Led by a Buttonwood naturalist, hikers will explore some of the wonders to be found in the woods and along the byways.
“With the coming of spring, we will see the local flora coming back to life as we hike along the Appalachian Trail,” said Pam Rowland, Buttonwood education site coordinator and program organizer.
The event is free but pre-registration is required. Readers can register online at Buttonwood’s website: www.buttonwoodnaturecenter.org. The meeting place for the hike will be sent after registration.
