CHAMBERSBURG – On a sunny Sunday, members of the community gathered at Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium to participate in a unique celebration. The event marked a significant milestone for the beloved business – its 50th anniversary.
To commemorate this occasion, the community was invited to help paint a large mural that will serve as a tribute to the founders, Mister Ed and Pat Gotwalt.
The mural, which will measure an impressive 28 feet, is a collaborative effort that brought people of all ages together. Participants were thrilled to contribute to the artwork, which will be mounted on the side of the building on May 20.
“It was wonderful seeing people of all ages come together to paint pieces of what will be a 28-foot mural celebrating 50 years in business,” said representatives from Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium. This sentiment captures the spirit of community and celebration that defined the event.
Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium has been a cherished attraction since 1975, known for its extensive collection of elephant figurines and a wide variety of candies. The business has survived numerous challenges over the years, including relocation and a fire, but remains a testament to the dedication of its founders and current owners.
The mural project is part of a broader effort to honor the legacy of Mister Ed and Pat Gotwalt, who have left an indelible mark on the community. As the mural takes its place on the building, it will serve as a visual reminder of the business’s rich history and its role in bringing joy to generations of visitors.
