WAYNESBORO – John Ryan Beck, chief of the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department, discussed the state of the department with Rotarians last week.
He noted the department, located on Virginia Avenue, is a result of merging the borough’s two volunteer companies, the Ath&L Fire Company, and the Mechanics Fire Company. And the combined agency stays busy, Beck noted, handling more than 500 calls last year.
