CHAMBERSBURG – Officials with the Institute for Retired Persons have announced changes to its lecture schedule and released attendance figures for recent events.
The lecture scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, has been revised. Marvin Worthy will now present “Racial Reconciliation of Franklin County” at the Menno Haven LifeCenter.
During the first two weeks of the program, IRP reported an average of 39 participants for Zoom lectures and 54 attendees for in-person lectures.
The updated schedule for the week of March 24-27 includes:
- Monday, March 24, 9 a.m. (Zoom): “Was Freeing Enslaved Persons Proof of Insanity?” by Isabel Sans
- Tuesday, March 25, 9 a.m. (Menno Haven LifeCenter): “Racial Reconciliation of Franklin County” by Marvin Worthy
- Tuesday, March 25, 10:30 a.m. (Menno Haven LifeCenter): “A Genetic Genealogy Study: The Search for the Father of Sylvie Benhamou” by Gerry Hoffman
- Wednesday, March 26, 9 a.m. (Zoom): “Consumptive Chic: A History of Beauty, Fashion, and Disease” by Carolyn Day, Ph.D.
- Thursday, March 27, 9 a.m. (Menno Haven LifeCenter): “Climate Change: The Basic Science & History of U.S. Actions” by John Ricca
- Thursday, March 27, 10:30 a.m. (Menno Haven LifeCenter): “Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Infections” by Catherine Mauss, DO

Menno Haven enforces a 15 mph speed limit and requests that all stop signs be obeyed. Food is not allowed in the Menno Haven LifeCenter auditorium, but drinks are permitted.
