Crush cancer together: Join the 43rd Waynesboro Area Cancer Auction

You can help local volunteers crush cancer by supporting the 43rd Waynesboro Area Cancer Auction April 5.

Since 1982, the auction has raised over $2.6 million, including a record-breaking $120,000 at last year’s event, to support Franklin County residents going through cancer treatments.

Admission is free, and the atmosphere is casual, according to co-chairs Alison Huber and Kristyn Martin. A plethora of silent and oral auction items, gathered by volunteer solicitors, will again be available at the auction in Green Grove Gardens, 1032 Buchanan Trail E., Greencastle. Doors open at 3 p.m., the silent auction starts at 4 p.m. and oral bidding begins at 5:30 p.m. The co-chairs said donations are still being sought.

Readers can sport an auction T-shirt, inscribed with this year’s logo, “Crushing Cancer. Together, We’re a Beast!” designed by Kim Hykes of Waynesboro. They are available online from Infinity Designs, 1500 E. Main St., Waynesboro, on its website at:

goinfinitydesigns.com

The cost is $15 for a short-sleeved tee, $18 for a long-sleeved tee and V-neck short-sleeved tee, and $13 for kids shirts.

Get ready to bid by perusing the catalog at: www.cancerauction.com

There you’ll find donations like an England Malibu sectional from L&S Furniture and a one week stay at a beachfront house in Topsail Beach, North Carolina. Also available will be a Kentucky Derby-themed dinner at the home of Amy Stevens, as well as a chance to garner the package offered by Jeremy and Andrea Bowersox, who will host 10 guests in their suite at Northwest Stadium for a 2025 Washington Commanders regular season game.

If baseball is your game, tickets to Pirates and Orioles games will be auctioned off.

Bid on getaways to destinations such as Sandy Feet Retreat in Holden Beach, North Carolina; The Red Newt Lodge and Wild Bird Sanctuary near Mathias, West Virginia; Boonsboro Inn; Rocky Gap Casino Resort; Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, West Virginia; and Crow Vineyard & Winery, Kennedyville, Maryland.

Offerings also include a cooking class for six at the Kitchen Shoppe in Carlisle, two tickets to see “Noah” at Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, lunch for four and a tour of the State Capitol in Harrisburg with Rep. Chad Reichard, a wine tour and tasting for eight at the Adams County Winery in Orrtanna and a jump session package at Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Hagerstown.

Experiences in Waynesboro include a private movie theater party for 50 at Waynesboro Movie Theatre, a Pour Your Own Candle session for four at The Vintage Flame Candles & Wax Lab, a Queen Tea for five at TranquilaTEA Tea Room & Gift Shop, a two-hour wheel throwing class for four at Nicodemus Center of Ceramic Studies, and a Waynesboro Area YMCA pool party.

Bidders may choose from a variety of items, like a customized KidKraft Playhouse, the installation of a dogwood tree, or auto detailing services, as well as numerous golf packages, designer handbags, antiques, jewelry, and gift cards.
