John J. Hipp, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Born August 16, 1937, in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Linus A. and Ruth I. Moore Hipp. His beloved wife, Constance G. Dixon Hipp, preceded him in death on October 6, 2016.
John served honorably in the US Air Force from 1958 – 1961. He was employed as a Sales Representative for A.P. Woodson and Co. Oil and later Petro Oil until his retirement in 2000. An Auctioneer, John and his family owned and operated M & H Auction in Laurel, MD for many years.
He is survived by two children, Kathryn Faith Mattia of Ft. Loudon, PA, and James Michael Mattia (Dale) of Accokeek, MD; two grandchildren, Jessica Ramos-Mattia (Melissa) of Jacksonville, FL, and Kaitlyn Clark (Nathan) of England, U.K.; two great grandsons, Aiden and Owen; one niece, Sharon Smith of Mineral, VA; and two great nieces. Aside from his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanie Plummer.
