Ruth C. “Sis” Munson Middlekauff, 83, of Richmond Street, Hagerstown, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Emeritus Senior Living, Hagerstown. She was the wife of the late Ethan A. “Dean” Middlekauff, who died in 1998.
Born June 23, 1931, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Beauford Albertus and Rhoda Marie Kinsey Munson.
Sis was employed with J.C. Penney Co. as a cosmetician; and prior to that, at BonTon and Routzahn’s.
She was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God.
Additionally, she was a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League; and volunteer at the former Washington County Hospital, now Meritus Medical Center.
Surviving are her children, Brenda J. Smith of Greencastle, Pa., Donna L. Hornbecker of Hagerstown, John W. Gladhill of Sykesville and Scott A. Middlekauff of Tampa, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, Sis was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Sherman Munson.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 17, 7 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:30 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
