More than 50 competitors in the 600 Sprints division checked in for Linda’s Speedway’s 37th National Open.
None had a better night on the track than Kameron Morral.
Fresh off a victory at Path Valley Speedway’s closing weekend, Hagerstown’s Morral kept his momentum rolling from beginning to end in Jonestown on Saturday. He started his day off by blazing through time trials, piloting his No. 880 car to the field’s fastest effort.
Morral followed with a win in his heat race, before starting on the pole for the 40-lap main event. There, he drove to a wire-to-wire victory over Christian Bruno and Gunnar Pio.
Morral was the only winner on a weekend that saw a number of tracks close out their respective seasons. One of those tracks was Hagerstown Speedway, which hosted Octoberfest, an event to spotlight the Short Track Super Series. Three Hagerstown drivers — Brady Neff, Avery McMellen and David Thompson — landed top-five finishes.
Neff and McMellen took third and fifth in the Crate Late Models, while Thompson was a DNF for fourth in a small field of cars in the Crown Vic feature.
Lincoln Speedway ended its season with the “Final 50” in the 410 Sprints. Fayetteville’s Lance Dewease qualified for the feature and took 16th in the event.
Below is a track-by-track, feature-by-feature look at how drivers from the LocalNews1.org coverage area performed last weekend:
