HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Black Rock Bar & Grill will reopen its Hagerstown restaurant Oct. 1 under new ownership, bringing back its signature hot-stone steak experience along with a renewed focus on hospitality and community involvement.
A ribbon-cutting celebration is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1. The event will include food, drinks, music and giveaways. The restaurant will open for dinner service at 3 p.m. that day. The new owners are Jorgina Andrawos and Robert Helmick.
Black Rock is known for its “steak on a stone” dining experience, in which guests cook their steaks at their tables on 755-degree volcanic rocks.
The menu also includes seafood selections, including Maryland crab cakes, burgers, vegetarian choices and handcrafted cocktails.
The reopening marks the return of a restaurant that had developed a following in the area before closing. Its new ownership team said it aims to welcome back longtime customers while introducing the concept to new diners.
“We saw an opportunity to bring back a restaurant we loved and missed with fresh energy and a renewed commitment to our guests,” the owners said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome back longtime Black Rock fans, introduce the experience to new guests, and become an active and engaged part of the Washington County community.”
The restaurant’s reopening is planned as a community-focused event, with leaders and guests invited to celebrate the business’s return ahead of the first dinner service.
