CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County has broken ground on a new home that will provide affordable housing for a local family.
Community members gathered at the construction site for a groundbreaking ceremony, helping turn the first dirt as work officially began on the project.
Construction is expected to continue over the coming months and will include framing, roofing and drywall installation. Volunteers will play a central role throughout the build, contributing labor and support as the home takes shape.
The project reflects Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County’s ongoing effort to expand access to safe, affordable housing for low- to moderate-income residents.
Formed in 1994, the organization has built or rehabilitated 64 homes in Franklin County. Through new-home construction and housing rehabilitation projects, the affiliate works to help individual families while supporting the broader community’s need for attainable housing.
