Whoa, Bubba! What’s happening?

Bubba, my imaginary friend, and I were having a little chat.

And last week, I was just sitting around thinking about the way things have changed in my lifetime.

I was listening to this favorite song on the computer, “Another day old” and thinking this is a great song about growing old and having another birthday; the lyrics were “cool,” the raspy voice of the Blues singer was beyond compare, and I must have played the song 20 times.

I was even ready to order an album.

But a little further investigation revealed the singer and song were made up by an AI (Artificial Intelligence) designer.

That’s the nature of the world these days,” offered Bubba.

Real truth is hard to find anymore.”

And then I was thinking for a few moments and thought, maybe even our politicians should be artificially designed to avoid their ‘“ntelligence deficits.”

For something really seems amiss here!

“Consider this, Bubba.

“I remember when you told me about your candidate to be President, and you gave me all these good reasons to vote for him.

“Remember?”

Sadly, I do,” said Bubba.

Your candidate said, he could end the war in the Ukraine in a week or short term for certain?

“How did that work out Bubba?”

 “Not very good,” he replied.

“And your candidate said he could end most wars and conflicts around the globe.

“He convinced many voters he was a ‘diplomat’ of peace.” I’m chuckling here.

“Now your candidate, Bubba, has immersed us in a war that most likely will last long after he leaves office.”

“I remember that one too,” said Bubba.

And then, this very same candidate said he was concerned about the deficit and thought his idea of tariffs could make us a lot of money and we could pay down that deficit.

But now it seems that America’s deficit is projected to be somewhere near 40 trillion dollars, and they don’t even make pennies any more to help pay it off.

“What’s happening here Bubba, with all that wise advice you gave to the American people about your candidate previously?”

Well Dargan Boy, I most likely goofed a little bit,” shared Bubba.

“And this particular observation is alarming too Bubba.

“Your candidate has just about alienated most of the allies of this country.  Most recently the leader of the north country (Canada) went home after your candidate made him an offer that was difficult to swallow.

“What do you think about that Bubba?”

“I always liked my Canadian friends, even the Toronto Bluejays,” said Bubba.

“I wonder if your candidate Bubba ever read Dale Carnegie’s book on ‘How to win friends and influence people’’?

“Carnegie gives some very good advice:

“He said it is best to avoid those three ‘ego’ C’s.

“Criticize, Condemn and Complain”

“Your political candidate, Bubba, seems to do all three of those bad characteristics.

“Sadly, I have to agree Dargan Boy,” said Bubba.

“Are we going to have anything to eat or drink today, asked his friend; I’m hungry!”

Inflation seems to be hitting my pockets, Bubba; gas is high, grocery prices are going up, car insurance rates are increasing, cable bill rises every other month, and my little raise in Social Security is already spent.

“And I’ll be expected to help pay off that 40 trillion dollar deficit sometime soon while your favorite candidate is out playing golf in Florida.”

Maybe I can make you a pumpkin pie one day, but I’m saving my ears of corn for another recipe later this fall; no corn on the cob today for you.

“I’m getting more disgruntled about our political system.”

“I would hope, Bubba, that you might write a letter to your President and give him that advice of Dale Carnegie in how to make friends and influence people.

“One, should practice these three good C’s:

“Compassion, Curiosity and Commitment would be most welcomed.

“Just imagine, Bubba, if your choice for President might have applied more of those elements to his decision making instead of ‘Criticizing, Condemning and Complaining about everything.”

“I agree,” said Bubba.

“Thank you for educating me, Dargan Boy.

“Maybe it would be a good idea to resurrect President Biden once again,” suggested Bubba smiling.

“And always remember too, Dargan Boy, that advice of Harry Truman:

“You want a friend in Washington, get a dog.”

“See you later pal.”
