WAYNESBORO, Pa. – Patrons may get up close and personal with reptiles at a program set for 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, 45 E. Main St.

A variety of animal ambassadors and specimens will be presented by the animal rescue and education organization Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary of Amish country in Pennsylvania.

Those attending will meet snakes, lizards, iguanas, turtles and a mini alligator. “A few lucky patrons may get the chance to get up close and even hold some of these amazing animals,” according to Tallie Parks, library manager.

The program, which is presented across Pennsylvania, aims to educate people on these cold-blooded creatures and diminish stigma around them, added Parks. “In addition to outreach and education, they rescue and rehome reptiles in Pennsylvania.

“It’s the type of show you usually have to travel to a zoo and pay to see, but patrons of the library can experience it right here for free,” Parks said. “There’s no registration required and it’s perfect for patrons 5 and older and their families.”
