GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Antrim Township is planning a large-scale America250 celebration this month as Stars, Stripes, & Summer Nights takes shape at Antrim Township Community Park.
The event is scheduled for Friday, July 31, from 6 to 9 p.m., according to the township calendar and event listing. Organizers describe the evening as a family-friendly celebration of patriotism, summertime fun and community spirit, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Planned activities include a fireworks finale, food trucks, face painting, patriotic crafts, bounce houses, inflatable obstacle courses, barrel train rides, a model train display, the Franklin County America250 Liberty Bell, square dancing demonstrations, Touch a Truck, hayrides and an America250 scavenger hunt. Officials also said Manitowoc-Grove plans to participate with one of its cranes and a large American flag display.
The celebration is still being developed, and organizers said additional details, activities, sponsors and scheduling information will be announced as planning continues. If weather affects the fireworks or other outdoor activities on Friday, those portions of the event would move to Saturday, Aug. 1.
