It’s going to be quite some time before we see Maggie Domzalski and James Breslin compete at the high school level.
Even so, the Chambersburg Memorial YMCA club swimmers, both competitors in the 7-8 age division, are doing everything they can to develop their pool game and prepare themselves for the big stage.
Domzalski and Breslin were dominant at the Linwood Nester Invitational, held in Mechanicsburg. Domzalski claimed a trio of victories in the 25 backstroke (18.68), 25 breaststroke (20.48), and 25 butterfly (16.94), and finished third in the 25 freestyle (16.15). Breslin posted wins in the 25 freestyle (17.49) and 25 backstroke (19.33), and added runner-up finishes in the 25 breaststroke (24.04) and 25 butterfly (19.89).
Savannah Wilmot recorded a third-place finish in the 6U 25 breaststroke (38.59), while 9-10 swimmer Riley Dominguez took third in the 25 backstroke (19.06).
Another Chambersburg swimmer, Rebecca Reeder, traveled to Knoxville, Tenn., and landed three Top 8 finishes at the Tennessee Aquatics June Long Course Invitational. Competing in the 13-14 age division, Reeder took seventh in the 100 backstroke (1:13.51) and 50 butterfly (31.52), and added an eighth-place finish in the 50 backstroke (34.02).
Finally, Haley Fuss had a fine showing at the Club Mountaineer Mid-Summer Invite in Morgantown, W.Va. The YMCA of Hagerstown swimmer logged six Top 5 finishes in the 11-12 age division, including a victory in the 50 freestyle (30.43), a runner-up finish in the 50 butterfly (32.73), and a fourth-place effort in the 200 butterfly (3:21.07).
