The spring high school sports season has reached its final week, and only one team remains in action in the LocalNews1.org coverage area.
Greencastle-Antrim’s baseball squad won its first two games in the PIAA Class 5A tournament last week, with the Blue Devils defeating Upper Perkiomen in the first round, 2-1, before punching their ticket to the state semifinals with a 6-5 walk-off win over Pittston Area.
The Chambersburg baseball team also advanced through the first round of the state playoffs, but the Trojans were bounced in the quarterfinals with a 3-2 loss to Butler. Fairfield’s season ended in the opening round of 1A states, with the Knights falling to MMI by a 13-12 score.
Our two softball teams that qualified for the state playoffs, Greencastle and Chambersburg, have both been eliminated. The Blue Devils, a 2025 state finalist, fell 5-1 to West Chester East in the opening round. The Trojans won their first-round game, before their season ended in the quarterfinals with a 4-0 loss to Hempfield Area.
