BOONSBORO, Md. — Construction is underway at Boonsboro High School as officials and community partners begin a series of capital improvements designed to upgrade the school’s athletic complex and provide enhanced facilities for student-athletes.
Recent updates indicate that multiple construction projects are underway across campus this summer, resulting in temporary changes to building access, parking and traffic patterns. School officials have advised visitors to expect limited access in certain areas while work is completed.
The athletic improvements are part of a broader effort championed by local supporters, coaches and the Boonsboro Athletic Boosters. According to the organization’s “Coach’s Vision” initiative, the project seeks to create safer, more modern facilities for athletes competing in football, soccer, lacrosse, track and other outdoor sports. The vision includes upgrades to the stadium and surrounding athletic areas, with a focus on providing state-of-the-art facilities for current and future student-athletes.
The project has received support through state funding initiatives. Maryland’s 2026 capital budget includes a $250,000 grant for acquisition, planning, design, construction, renovation, site improvements and capital equipment associated with the Boonsboro High School baseball field and surrounding stadium.
Community discussions about improving the athletic complex have been ongoing for several years. Previous proposals included significant investments to modernize facilities and expand the school’s capacity to host athletic programs and community events.
Supporters say the improvements will benefit not only student-athletes but also the broader Boonsboro community. Upgraded facilities are expected to enhance safety, improve the spectator experience and provide venues capable of hosting regional competitions and community activities.
Boonsboro High School competes in the Central Maryland Conference and serves hundreds of student-athletes each year. Athletic officials and booster organizations have emphasized that modern facilities are increasingly important for player development, recruitment opportunities and community engagement.
Construction is expected to continue throughout the summer months, with school officials encouraging residents to follow updates regarding campus access and project milestones as work progresses.
