CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Lackawanna College has opened a new 30-bay welding and fabrication training center in the Franklin Area Development Corporation’s Cumberland Valley Business Park near the Letterkenny Army Depot. The new center will offer an associate’s degree education focusing on hands-on technical training in the skilled trades.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, with the public invited. An open house is set for Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where visitors can tour the facility, meet the faculty and learn more about the Welding and Fabrication Technology program. The center serves students in Franklin County as well as the neighboring counties and beyond, college officials said. As a private school, tuition will run about $18,000 annually or $650 per credit hour.
The Chambersburg Center is located at 1669 Opportunity Ave. The building occupies a total of approximately 11,000 square feet of classroom, laboratory and office space. The weld shop is approximately 5,000 square feet and includes 30 welding booths.
