WAYNESBORO, Pa — The 37th Annual Youth Festival brought families together Sunday afternoon for a day of hands-on learning, outdoor exploration and live entertainment.

Held from 1 to 5 p.m., the festival featured workshops, demonstrations, exhibits and activities designed to engage children and families throughout the day. Attendees participated in hikes, StoryWalk® activities and interactive exhibits hosted by local organizations and community groups.

One of the featured presentations was “Birds of Prey” by Patrick Miller, founder of Miller’s Wildlife, established in 2019. Miller introduced attendees to several birds, including a red-tailed hawk, a barn owl and a falcon.

During the presentation, Miller explained that a red-tailed hawk can see seven times better than humans. He also shared that his red-tailed hawk weighs 3.5 pounds, drawing interest and questions from children and adults alike.

The festival was sponsored by Patriot Federal Credit Union.

Additional vendors and participants included Alexander Hamilton Library, the Waynesboro YMCA, Backyard Critters, The Eyler Family, the Franklin County Libraries truck, Story Time Blue Ridge Summit Library and the Waynesboro Ceramic Arts Center.

Organizers said the annual event continues to provide educational and family-friendly experiences that encourage community involvement and outdoor learning.
