Zane Crouse was asked to compete against some of the nation’s toughest wrestlers last weekend.
He dominated them.
Crouse, a wrestler from Greencastle, brought home a championship from last weekend’s Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association Eastern Nationals, held at Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, Maryland. Competing at 135 pounds in the Elite Division, Crouse won all three of his matches by technical fall, including an 18-2 smashing over Lafayette Hill’s Maddox Rosenblatt in the title bout.
Crouse was the headliner for a group of 11 area grapplers that nailed down Top 8 finishes. Greencastle’s Jackson Polifka (Advanced 152) and Hagerstown’s Logan Ardinger (Advanced 105) both posted silver-medal efforts.
Other medalist finishes were recorded by Waynesboro’s Emma Swope (3rd, Junior Girls 70), Noah Swope (4th, Midget 62), Colton Ogburn (5th, Intermediate 136), and Brixton Hollimon (6th, Junior 74), Greencastle’s Silas Robertson (8th, Advanced 140), Hagerstown’s Brendon Colbert (6th, Open 167), Fairfield’s Wyatt Sager (5th, Bantam 56), and Chambersburg’s Atlee Spidell (7th, Junior Girls 115).
Chambersburg sent a sizable group of grapplers to Dillsburg last weekend for a Freestyle/Greco-Roman Qualifier. Jaccob Stoner led the way for the Trojans, winning both his Freestyle and Greco brackets. Sammy Stoner, Lane Houp, and Archer Hight all won Greco titles, while Frankie Bryan was a Freestyle champion.
