Phyllis Christman Frank, of Chambersburg, PA, died on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in the Chambersburg Hospital after a brief illness. Born July 7, 1933, Phyllis was 92 years old.
Born in Franklin County to the late Ambrose Grove Christman and Margaret Bishop Christman, she attended Chambersburg Senior High School where she graduated in 1951. Throughout the years, Phyllis worked various jobs including for the United Telephone Company, Tracey Fashions, and, most recently, GStek at Letterkenny Army Depot. Phyllis retired at the age of 80 years old.
Phyllis is survived by her three children; Vickie Witter, wife of Jeffrey, of Fayetteville, PA; Douglas Frank, husband of Paula, of Hanover, PA; and Marla Minnich, of Waynesboro, PA. Known as Nina to her grandchildren, she has six grandchildren; Elizabeth Buhrman, wife of Michael; Heather Martinelli, wife of Mark; Kyle Witter; Jacob Minnich, husband of Aliia; Lauren Frank, wife of Ashleigh Farone; and Hannah Minnich. Additionally, she has four great-grandchildren; Landon Buhrman, Finley Buhrman, Sophia Martinelli, and Ava Martinelli. She is also survived by two brothers; Bishop Christman, husband of Evelyn, and Gregory Christman, husband of Patricia.
Known for her work ethic, sense of humor, and wisdom, Phyllis enjoyed listening to the sounds of the waves at the beach, drinking a margarita on her birthday, watching the birds in her backyard, cheering on televised college basketball, and singing along to the music of a mariachi band. She was especially proud of each of her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steven Minnich.
A private family service will be held to honor and celebrate the life of Phyllis.
As Phyllis was a lifelong member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, in lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory for the Rev. Dr. Clarence A. Neal Chapel.
