High School Scores and Standings from April 27-May 2

It hasn’t been an easy season for the Chambersburg boys volleyball team, but the Trojans had one big reason to celebrate last week.

After starting the season 0-13, Chambersburg got into the win column with a 3-1 victory over Trinity.

A team that can relate to those Trojans is the South Hagerstown boys lacrosse squad, a program three years removed from back-to-back winless seasons. The Rebels have found the light at the end of the tunnel this season, though, as they recorded their school-record 10th win of the spring last week.

Waynesboro’s baseball team is heating up. The Tribe, now ranked No. 7 in the District 3-6A power rankings, went 3-0 last week, with one of those wins coming by a 4-1 score over rival Greencastle-Antrim. The Blue Devils still lead the Colonial Division, while Chambersburg continues to reign over the Commonwealth.

The track postseason kicked off in Maryland with the Small School CMC Championship. Smithsburg’s boys took second in the team standings and got two wins from Dylan Herbst in the 800 (1:59.13) and 1,600 (4:32.30), with Cadyn Nesbitt (pole vault, 13-0) and Michael Wynkoop (3,200, 10:08.69) also earning victories. Smithsburg’s girls got a win from Lohgan Viar in the 3,200 (13:20.21).

Chambersburg’s Okenie McLaughlin had a field day at the Stan Morgan Invitational, with the Trojans jump star surging to wins in the long jump (22-4.25) and triple jump (45-9). Chambersburg’s girls got wins from Natalie Quinn (3,200, 11:06.21) and Emily Mitchell (freshman 300 hurdles, 50.30).

Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News1 coverage area performed last week:
