MERCERSBURG, Pa- A Franklin County man is accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife before turning the gun on himself Friday morning in Montgomery Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The man, identified as Larry Seville, 51, of Mercersburg, faces charges of first-degree murder and burglary after he is medically cleared, state police said.
State police said troopers were dispatched at about 6:36 a.m. to a reported shooting at a home in the 6300 block of Montgomery Church Road. When officers and emergency crews arrived, they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a man with a gunshot wound inside the residence, according to a state police news release.
The woman was identified as Buffi Camille Smith, 49, of Greencastle. She was pronounced dead at the scene after lifesaving efforts were attempted, state police said. Seville was taken to WellSpan York Hospital for treatment.
Investigators said Seville forced his way into Smith’s residence while armed with a firearm and encountered her inside the home. State police said he is accused of shooting Smith multiple times before shooting himself.
The Franklin County District Attorney’s Office has approved charges of murder and burglary, and a warrant will be issued for Seville’s arrest once treatment is complete, state police said. Authorities said there is no danger to the public.
